This is a presumed beta-sandwich domain found towards the C-terminal of Membrane-associated phosphatidylinositol transfer proteins 1-3 (PITM1-3) and RDGB from Drosophila. These are class II phosphatidylinositol transfer proteins (PITPs) which can transfer phosphatidylinositol (PI) between membranes [1]. RDGB can also transfer phosphatidic acid (PA) between membranes [2]. PTIM1/2 bind PI, phosphatidylcholine (PC) and (PA) with the binding affinity order of PI > PA > PC [2].

This entry represents the LNS2 domain found at the C-terminal of Membrane-associated phosphatidylinositol transfer protein 1-3 (PITM1-3, class II PITPs) and RDGB from Drosophila [1]. This domain, in contrast to lipins where it was first described, in class II PITPs can bind phosphatidic acid (PA) but not hydrolyse it [1]. RDGB is required to regulate phosphoinositide turnover during G-protein activated phospholipase C signalling [1]. PITM 1-3 catalyse the transfer of phosphatidylinositol (PI) between membranes [1,2].
