The protein mCherry (shown: pdb_00002h5q) is a red fluorescent protein used as a tag for tracking other proteins in scientific research. mCherry is a prime example of how modern biotechnology leverages the unique properties of proteins to develop new products, technologies, and therapies.

Biotechnology will be our focus topic for 2026-27. Learn how PDB structures help researchers use biology in industry at PDB-101.
